“Nobody had stuff to sign.” — George Hollo
Another of my favourite small stories is George Hollo’s yearbook.
Celebrities did not charge for autographs at the early cons and so they did not bring stacks of 8x10s with them. George Hollo was very impressed by DC Fontana — “She was an absolute dream” — and he wanted her autograph but “Nobody had stuff to sign, so as a 13-year-old dumb kid I brought my high school yearbook with me. So, I actually have DC Fontana’s autograph in my high school yearbook, along with Bjo and Joan Winston and all sorts of behind-the-scenes people.”
